ALAI 2001 Congress

Adjuncts and Alternatives to Copyright

New York, June 13-17

Theme of the Congress:

Copyright law today is very much in flux, encountering pressures for change from within and without the copyright system. The ALAI 2001 Congress explored two legal regimes that supplement, and perhaps are in some respects coming to supplant, traditional copyright law. The first two days addressed technological protection and copyright management systems; the third considered the relationship of copyright and trademark law, particularly with regard to overlapping subject matter, such as design marks and visual characters.
